Coins valid in Denmark

All coins issued after the introduction of the krone as Denmark's currency in 1875 can be exchanged at face value at Danmarks Nationalbank, if the denomination is still in circulation.

1-, 2-, 5- and 10-øre coins cannot be exchanged, as these denominations are no longer legal tender. 25-øre coins can be encashed until 1 October 2011.

In the years 1924-40, a ½-krone coin was minted. This coin was withdrawn as legal tender by the end of 1942. Consequently, it cannot be redeemed.
