In addition to the seven ordinary coins in circulation, the coin set includes a copy of the Royal Danish Geographical Society's Galathea Medal, which was introduced on 28 April 1916.
The medal was executed by August Thomsens Etablissement, royal jewellers, and modelled by S. Lindahl, royal engraver.
The medal depicts the Danish corvette 'Galathea', which in 1845 led the Galathea 1 Expedition on a 26-month journey around the world.
